1. With your parent who watched the video with you, discuss the following question: based on the facts in the video, how would you create your colony in a way that shows you have learned from mistakes from the past?
2. Write a letter on our blog to the other members of your colony, and tell them about 3 ways you want your colony to be different from the original colonies and the way the colonists lived. Explain why these changes are important for the survival of your colony.

ReplyDeleteIn order to NOT redo history, we must try to do the following things
1) We will not be sexist to women, because we need to our jobs, they need to do theirs.
2) We will not exclude People of other religions, because population makes our colony great, and we want a great colony.
3) We will try to be good, respectful leaders, because we don’t want to be taking the role of William Berkley because we have a rebel uprising on our hands.

ReplyDeleteHere are some things that i thought were important to do in our colony.1) i think that when the colonists came to america they didn't want the native Americans to help them but i think that they would be great help to our colony!also instead of inslaveing Indians we could be friends and help each other. 2) In earlier times a lot of black people lost there jobs, so instead of firing people no matter what there religion or color of there skin we could always use there help. 3) although women's freedom is important i think that religious freedom is more important in our situation. when people didn't let people into there colony because they weren't this religion people went off to make there own colony's like Rhode island. we either need to have religious freedom or really really good religious tolerance. if we have those thing in our colony our colony we be a good free colony with people that can work in farms and in fishing and hunting, our colony can go far.

ReplyDeleteI have something to suggest,
1: Look for area to start our colony where there is a fresh river for fresh water and fish, good forest for hunting, and rich soil.
2: Bring plenty of supplies (Horses, Muskets, food, good workers, etc)
3. Be Peaceful, do not attack unless we are attacked first, and make alliances and trading communications.
4. FREE RIGHTS AND FREE RELIGION! Many more people will want to come to our colony.

1) Do not fight people who are already on the land, this way we might not lose people and we might gain population
2( Come prepared, this way we might have a more likely chance of surviving
3( pick good land, this way we might not have to worry about bad crops and bad hunting, and fishing.

ReplyDeleteHere are some of my suggestions for our colony that will help history not repeat itself :
1. Do not attack all the time because if we do we could lose our land and people.
2. Find land that has good farming and/or fishing.
3. Even though we can farm (hopefully) in the new world, we should bring enough food to feed our colony just in case we land in a bad season or our farmland is not rich enough.

ReplyDeleteHere are 3 things our colony should do that colonists did way back in the 1600-1700s.
Be peaceful and only attack if we really need to because if we attack other colonies could take our open land. We would also want to be peaceful because we want to have good relationships with our neighbors such as the Native Americans and other colonies. Wars between colonies are never good.
Men and women should have the same rights so that women can actually be part of the colony because in the past the women have gotten to do almost nothing outside of the house. Women couldn’t own land, even if the father died. If the father died the land would go to a son.
We need to find good land to start our colony. If we find good land then we will be able to find most of the things we need to survive in the New World. If we don’t find good land we will have to go inland and it will be very hard to portage all of our stuff the possibly long distance.

ReplyDelete1. I think we should let some indians in because that will increase our population and we could ask them to work in our farmland. if they rufuse we will ask them to do another job.
2. I don't think we should have slavery because if we had indians become our slaves other indians who aren't slaves could try to save the slaves and they could kill us.
3. we should not kill people for land because itr could start a war.
