  2. Oscar says I think Lou Gehrig is a hero because he got 2 MVP awards. He sounds really good at baseball. Also it would be hard to play for the Yankees, a really good team. He also was probably a hero for his mom(and family members) because she was first mad that he college to play baseball. But of course he redeemed hiself by becoming a great baseball player. And he was definetly a hero to his fans.

  4. I think he was a hero because he was so caring and supportive of his teammates. One fact that proves this is that he went to over 2000 games in a row even when he was sick. Another fact is that he never gave up. Even when he discovered he couldn't play anymore, he kept practicing hitting because he didn't want to let down his team or himself. He was determined to always do his best, and that's why I think he was a hero.

  21. Violet says I think Lou Gehrig is a hero because he showed leadership to his team and family. He did this by never missing a game or a day of school.
He also played through anything from headaches to broken bones. His mom was mad at Lou when he dropped out of college but a little happier when he brought the family money. He also play through ALS. Even when he knew he was dying he kept on playing and practicing. He took dying one step at a time. He was very modest and never bragged about how good a player he was. He never put his teams hopes down or never blamed a teammate. He showed respect to the other team if they won or lost. He got voted twice as MVP throughout his entire career. He also got voted into the baseball Hall Of Fame. When he had ALS he still went to every game and sat on the bench. The only reason he quit playing was for the good of the team which I think shows great respect from him to him team. He was a very lucky man. We will always remember Lou Gehrig a great baseball hero.
